Jeanne Firth

Dr. Jeanne Firth has been working in the VISIONS model since 2013, first as a client on the founding staff team of Grow Dat Youth Farm in New Orleans, Louisiana. She received a B.S.S in Peace and Conflict Studies from Cornell College, an MSc in Gender, Development and Globalization from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a PhD in Human Geography and the Environment also from the LSE. Jeanne holds a lifelong dedication to food justice and food sovereignty work, and her new book "Feeding New Orleans: Celebrity Chefs and Reimagining Food Justice" is published by UNC Press: Chapel Hill. Jeanne is a white woman who grew up in Kansas City in a family involved in interfaith peace movements, and has spent her adult life in San Francisco, London and New Orleans. She now lives in Louisville, Kentucky, where she tends an urban orchard and wild, biodiverse garden.
