Mr. Brown has worked for over 30 years as a community organizer and trainer for many neighborhood, tenant, labor, religious, health and other groups. He is the author of Building Powerful Community Organizations: A Personal Guide to Creating Groups that Can Solve Problems and Change the World, which is used widely in college classes teaching community organizing. He has an MPA from Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government and he is the founder and former director of the Jewish Organizing Initiative.
