August: A Bridge Between Seasons and Possibilities

Dear VISIONS Community,

August is often thought of as a “bridge month.” It’s a time that can feel like both an ending and a beginning, the final stretch of summer before the pace shifts into the energy of fall and winter. For some, it’s a month of slowing down, reflecting, and recharging. For others, it’s a quiet but vital period of preparation before the next wave of activity.

For VISIONS, August is both. It’s a time when we take stock of where we are, close out summer projects, and ready ourselves for what’s ahead. In the coming months, we’ll hopefully step into a busy fall and winter season with…

  • Upcoming client engagements that deepen our impact in schools, workplaces, and communities.
  • Board discussions about our business model and sustainability.
  • Continued program development through the Leadership Institute and other offerings.

This seasonal bridge is also a reminder of the transitions we navigate in our work every day, moving between perspectives, finding connection across difference, and holding space for both rest and action.

Whether you’re taking a late-summer vacation, wrapping up a project, or setting intentions for the months ahead, I hope August brings you moments of clarity, grounding, and connection.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us. The work we do together matters, and your role in it is essential.

Warmly,
Elika

Help Bring an Equity-Centered AI Conversation to SXSW 2026

We’re excited to share that the SXSW 2026 PanelPicker proposal "AI, Equity, and the Future of Work: Who Gets Left Behind?" is now live for public voting!

This proposed session will explore how artificial intelligence is transforming the workplace—and who is being left further behind in the process. As AI becomes more embedded in hiring, education, healthcare, and public systems, it’s critical to examine its impact through an equity lens.

If this conversation matters to you, we invite you to cast your vote and help bring it to one of the biggest stages for technology and culture.

✔️ Vote here (it only takes a minute): https://participate.sxsw.com/flow/sxsw/sxsw26/community-voting-sxsw/page/community-voting/session/1750946105387001UxYP
🗓 Voting closes: Sunday, August 24 at 11:59 PM PT

Your vote helps ensure equity-focused discussions have a place in mainstream tech conversations—thank you for your support.

From VP Admin

Annual Independent Contractor and Reciprocity Agreements: Hi all, I know summer is in full swing and please note that ICAs and RAs were sent out in mid-June. Many have returned your signed copies…thank you. Many have not. If you can please sign the signature pages and return them to me ASAP, that would be appreciated. I will start reaching out to folks individually.

Expenses: Please remember that you need to upload all receipts that you are seeking reimbursement for on your contract work. Make sure your total matches your receipts. This can stall VISIONS invoicing for reimbursement.

Want to support the organization?

Client Outreach: As discussed in the community calls, reach out to clients (current, past and potential) to offer VISIONS training and workshops. Share with those same, any upcoming training that they can attend or send new employees to support the work you have previously done with them. It is all helpful!

VISIONS is now offering a Client Membership. This is for clients that want support after the contract/formal engagement has ended. This new offering helps them to sustain the progress they made. Check out this option and share with your past clients.

Consulting and Programs

Please invite your clients and prospective clients to join In This Together: Supporting our Organizations in Turbulent Times on Wednesday, September 10th, from 12:00 PM Pacific / 3:00 PM Eastern / 7:00 PM UTC. In the News: VISIONS' Executive Director, Elika, Weighs In

We’re proud to share recent media highlights featuring insights and quotes from our Executive Director.

Salesforce Corner

Just as a reminder, there are new fields within Salesforce for you to track your debrief/ final call with your contract clients. You should receive a reminder email about this new process a few weeks before your contract is set to close. (If you aren’t receiving a reminder email, please reach out to Amy (abaker@visions-inc.org) so I can troubleshoot and make sure you receive ones in the future).

This new process will help you and VISIONS in a couple of ways:

  1. It has questions in it that we’ve put together to measure the impact of your work with the client.
  2. It strengthens the information we have on our clients and contracts for future work.
  3. It has a process built in to ask if the client might be interested in future work, and will send you an automated reminder if you fill in a follow-up date.

Here is a video showing you where to find this process and fields within Salesforce. Please reach out to Amy with any questions!
